queue_line (c) sxc
The seminar, titled Economical recession - challenges on vocational rehabilitation and well-being at work, takes place at the Scandic Marina Congress Centre in Helsinki, 18 March 2010.

The Nordic Rehabilitation Seminar is organized by RI (Rehabilitation International) Norden in cooperation with the Rehabilitation Foundation, Helsinki, Finland. RI Norden is a partnership between national RI organizations in all Nordic countries. RI Norden holds regular meetings and seminars. The RI Norden network gathers together numerous disability and rehabilitation organizations from all Nordic countries.

The Helsinki 2010 Rehabilitation Seminar concentrates on the versatile challenges and impacts the deepening economic recession is causing on vocational rehabilitation and well-being at work. The Nordic countries have been pioneers of building comprehensive and universal social welfare services and wide ranging rehabilitation systems. The Nordic welfare model is highly appreciated and seen as an ideal in many other countries. However, the development in the beginning of the 2000´s shows increasing unemployment and social and economical inequality and increasing differences in service access, as well in Nordic countries. Does the recent development also mean raising of the employment threshold for people with reduced working capacity? Is the Nordic model surviving through the economical recession?

The Nordic Helsinki 2010 Rehabilitation Seminar is a major event of training and networking for rehabilitation practitioners, decision and policy makers, leaders and administrators in the field of rehabilitation in Nordic countries.
